Blessings 2006
Thank you to the following babies and their families for having us attend their birthdays: Sarah Ann, Noa Wynn, Adia Faith, Rachel V., Gaelen Rose, Lydia Ann, Dora, Madilyn Joy, Sarah Amanda, Adalyn Reyne, Cheyenne Sierra, Grace Suzanne, Sydnee Elise, Sarah Michelle, Naomi Shalom, Sadie Havela, Hannah Ruth, Charity Promise, Evangeline Mary, Ivanna Shalom, Michelle Joy, Sophia Marie, Jeffery Isaac, Eamon James, Terry Nathanael, Andrew Emmett, Jackson Bernard, Zachary Whitmore, Elliott Timothy, Wyatt James, Marion Lee, Justice Michael, Duncan Paul, Abner M., Dominic Joseph, Michael Ray, Benjaman Chase, Jadon Daniel, Josiah Luther, Wyatt Justice, Rodney Devon, Linden Ried, Nicolas William, & John Edward. That makes 23 girls and 22 boys, 45 total for the year.
Lots of folks like to read the “unusual names” list so I included middle names this year. Some of the spellings are unique as well.
Our average weight for the year was 8 lb. 5 oz., the largest baby was 11 lb. 6 oz. and the smallest was 6 lb. 3 oz.. We had 13 babies over 9 pounds and only 4 under 7 pounds. Though the year we had 11 first time home birthers and 5 first babies.
The longest labor was 25 hours, (an 8th baby) and the shortest labor was about 1 hour. We did have 10 labors under 2 hours, so it was hard to call! I think it was the Polly Jeans formula.
January 7th Jennifer got Married! We love our new son-in-law. It was a big event with lots of guests. I wish I had a count of the babies we helped with that were at the reception. There were many! The following week Shannon had her baby, Noa, yes, she’s a girl. It’s in the bible. A man had 5 daughters and one was named Noa. Appropriate since this was their 5th daughter too.
In February, I was invited to a board meeting for the group I work with in Kenya. The meeting was in Gatlinburg. I really didn’t have anyone DUE, so I went and got snowed in. Yes, I had someone go into labor 15 days early, so Jennifer covered for me. I did spend 3 hours on the cell phone listening to the whole thing! (That’s my Car down there.)
My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in June, then took a 2 week trip to the Grand Canyon in July. We had the motorcycle sent out there. No, it didn’t arrive when we did, but a few days later we did get it. I hiked the canyon! The short trip, 1 hour down and 2 hours back. All I can say is WOW! We had a wonderful time touring the west and riding back home, 2300 miles. (That’ll build up some “sitting muscles”)
Jennifer and Jay told us on September that they were having a baby! Due in May ’07.
Our trip to Kenya was in October. Me, my husband- David, daughter- Jill and granddaughter- KayLeigh went. Our adopted son “found his rib” and got married so we attended the wedding, which lasted from 10 AM to 11 PM. That’s a Kenyan/Ugandan wedding!
My 1st day back to work when I got home, Jennifer and Shannon had helped my Kentucky ladies plan a surprise birthday party for me. I didn’t even remember it was my birthday, so surprise it was! What a wonderful blessing!
We had our first set of twins born at home in November, 9 lb. each. A special thank you to the Hall family for allowing us to be a part of your very precious blessing. From Kathy, Jennifer and Shannon, our hearts will forever be changed by God’s abundant Grace! It is truly a blessing to be part of God’s family. We love you.
December was our busiest month ever! We had 9 births in 30 days. Four of those were in 5 days during the middle of the month. I also didn’t have a single birth all year on a holiday! This year we had 10 families having a 2nd baby with Blessings, 7 families having a 3rd baby with us and 1 having a 4th baby. I Already have 3 families that had babies in 2006 that are expecting again!
My web site was updated and I continue to add stories and photos as you send them to me. Please call, write, or email. I do enjoy hearing from you all!
Blessings,
Kathy, Jennifer and Shannon
